ANDOVER, MA (May 15, 2014) — Executive Chef Paul Dubuque from the Andover Inn and Samuel’s Restaurant recently served as a special guest chef instructor for a culinary training class held by Lazarus House Ministries, located in Lawrence, MA. In his role as guest chef, Dubuque offered culinary training to a class of adults at or below the poverty level whom are looking to begin a career in the food service industry. This is the 2nd year in a row Chef Dubuque has participated in the Culinary Training Program at Lazarus House.
“The team at the Andover Inn and Samuel’s Restaurant is dedicated to helping those less fortunate in our community, so it gives me great pleasure to work with the amazing students of Lazarus House and to see the pride they put into their culinary training,” said Chef Dubuque. “The goal is to provide them with skills and a solid path to steady employment in the food service industry.”
The Lazarus House Culinary Training program is part of the organization’s Work Preparation Program. Once the program attendees have finished the hands-on eight-week training session and completed a Save Serve Service Certification, they are placed in a 3-month paid internship to get ‘real world’ experience. Many graduates of the internship program are then offered full-time employment.
